Sailor Senshi Page Updates

09/10/07: GENERAL NOTICE: Long time no update! The site's still alive, as you can see. The SSP recently turned 11 years old this past June, and we're a little over 1,900,000 hits! <3<3 Thank you to everyone who continues to visit this website. I'm sorry that I haven't answered any emails for... well, years. I forgot about the email account, really, and the e-mail is so backlogged, I'm not going to even try touching it. Thanks again to all the visitors <3

03/05/05: MOVIE CLIPS ARE BACK ONLINE: Also, the site itself underwent some downtime in February when my old host died, but it's obviously back now. =)

03/01/05: GENERAL NOTICE: No doubt you've noticed the lack of updates on the site over the past year. My attention has been taken up by a number of other things, including responsibilities offline and other online projects. Matthew has also been very busy with his offline life. There will be updates in the future, but most of these will be done by Matthew, and neither him nor I can can't guarantee when they will occur or what they'll contain. (I actually want to recode the entire site, but that will take a lot of time.) Until then, the SSP will remain static. I hope everyone who visits still finds something useful here for them, though. Thanks for visiting! <3

06/26/04: TOEI TO RELEASE REGION 2 SAILOR MOON R DVDS: Toei is finally getting around to releasing Region 2 DVDs (Japanese only) for Sailor Moon R, the second season. The first two DVDs, with 6 episodes each, are scheduled for release on September 21, 2004 priced at 3,800 yen each. You can check out Toei's catalog for the two DVDs: DVD 1 and DVD 2. Thank you to SMUncensored.com for the info! =)

5/28/04: JAPAN HERO CAMPAIGN: Japan Hero is running a campaign to show Media Blasters that there is great interest in the US and Canada for live-action Japanese TV shows to be released on Region 1 DVD. Click here to share your opinion (and be sure to list Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon as one of the shows you'd like to see!). Special thanks to Kotetsu of Boukenshin.net for bringing this to our attention.

04/27/04: MASSIVE VIDEO CLIPS UPDATE: Matthew here, I received my 2 DVDs of Pretty Guardian Sailormoon last Friday. I've been watching them ever since! If you have the money to spend and a regionless DVD player I highly recommend picking these up. Anyway, I remade most of the PGSM video clips so that they are of the highest quality (but be advised the file sizes are bigger). If you previously downloaded the old clips I'd still suggest you download the new ones since they are all progressive video (to see a noticable difference compare the new "Jupiter Power! Make-up!" with the old one, and you'll thank me). P.S. I will get to reviewing the DVDs, but it's just two more to add to the already large pile.

04/24/04: GENEON WILL LOSE SM MOVIE RIGHTS AT END OF 2004: Geneon announced at the Anime Boston 2004 convention that it will lose the rights to the Sailor Moon movies at the end of this year. After December 31, 2004, it will no longer print the movies. Geneon stated that their movie rights are non-renewable, so these plans are definite. Although this does not include the Sailor Moon S or SuperS TV series, which are part of a different contract, it seems unlikely that their TV rights will last much longer. Thank you very much to Dan at SMUncensored.com and Ben for the information!

04/22/04: NEW SENSHI UPDATES: Matthew here, the Video Clips page has been updated with the new senshi's henshin and intro in the Pretty Guardian Sailormoon page. Also updated is the new senshi's character information page found via thePGSM index page, and there you have it ;)

04/03/04: SAILOR MOON S THIN PACK DVD BOX SET TO BE RELEASED: According to AnimeonDVD.com, Geneon (formerly Pioneer), will be releasing a thin pack DVD box set of the Sailor Moon S season on July 6, 2004. The set will retail for $99.98 and contain all 6 DVDs, which are the same as the ones on the individual releases. Chad, a spokesman for Geneon said on the AnimeonDVD forums, "The reversible jackets will be the exclusive domain of the original release. However, the thin pack jackets will not have the Geneon Signature Series bar either." Thanks to Ben for the info!

04/03/04:The PGSM index page has been updated with some more guest cast information, direct information, and some corrections, thanks to tatsu-o!

03/31/04: PGSM UPDATES: Matthew here, the PGSM character pages found on the PGSM index page have been updated, with an added page for the brand new sailor senshi (if you don't want to be spoiled then don't click the link!).

03/26/04: PICTURE OF BRAND NEW SAILOR SENSHI: Matthew here, found on Oyonat.com and reported by Chad, is a black-and-white newspaper image of the new original Sailor Senshi that will join the cast of Pretty Guardian Sailormoon when the rest of the senshi are in a pinch. Since many people do not like to be spoiled, I will refrain from naming the senshi (it should be obvious from the picture anyway), but for the rest of us that like spoilers the picture can be found here.

03/11/04: ADV TO STOP PRODUCING SM AND SMR BY APRIL 1: According to ADV's press release, the company will stop producing DVDs and VHSes for Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon R (the first two seasons of the series) beginning April 1, 2004. This includes the uncut subtitled DVD boxsets, as well as the DIC dub versions of the series. ADV sublicensed the uncut licenses from DIC, whose contract with Toei expires March 31, 2004. Because of this, ADV will discontinue the two seasons, which will then be listed as Out of Print, so no new releases will be made. If you've been wanting to buy the series for a while, do so as soon as possible. Please note that this does not affect Geneon's (formerly Pioneer) releases of Sailor Moon S, SuperS, or the movies, which were licensed under a completely different contract. - Thanks to Dan at SMUncensored.com for the info

02/28/04: Matthew here, the Video Clips page has been updated with evil Dark Mercury's henshin! Also, the the PGSM index page is slowly being worked on to include more stuff in each Act Summary page, they will now include a soundtrack listing, interesting notes, and episode errors. Up to Act.3 is done, but detailed act summaries will not be available until the summer (or maybe spring) due to work and school constraints. I am also purchasing the PGSM DVDs, so there should be some more cool stuff to come :D

02/23/04: Matthew here, if you use the IRC FileServer to get your movie clips and you haven't been on lately, you may not have noticed that the Mirc-X server is down indefinitely. Therefore, I have moved to a different server! Please re-read the instructions for downloading from the FileServer on the Video Clips index page.

02/06/04: Two new Mercury clips from "Ami-chan no Hatsukoi" on the Video Clips page, including Mercury Aqua Mirage.

02/02/04: First of all, thank you for 1,000,000 visits! =) Second, the PGSM index page has actor and director information for Acts 14-16, and some corrections on names, thanks to tatsu-o! Also, there are now more PGSM clips, including Venus, on the Video Clips page!

01/30/04: Matthew here, the video clips are now available by me on IRC! Please see the Video Clips index page for instructions on how to download via IRC! ;)

01/07/04: PGSM index page now has actor and director information from Act.12 and Act.13, thanks to tatsu-o! =)

12/23/03: PGSM index page has been updated with cast information from Act.10 and Act.11, again thanks to tatsu-o! Kunzite is scheduled to appear in the series starting in Act.13. Also, http://sailormoon.info is a new domain that points to the SSP, so you can use that domain or eternalsailormoon.org to access this site. Happy holidays, everyone!

12/12/03: PGSM index page has been updated with Act.9 information, thanks to tatsu-o. Also, the "Kirari*Sailor Dream!" Promotion Video is up for a limited time at Columbia's site (click the [WMT] and [RV] buttons in the dark pink line to watch them)!

12/04/03: Remember that you can send Sailor Moon electronic Christmas cards by clicking the "Online SM Postcards" link to your left. =)

12/03/03: All of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon movie clips have been re-encoded from a different video source, and some new clips have been added.

11/23/03: The CD single versions of the Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon live action TV theme songs, "Kirari*Sailor Dream!" ("Sparkle Sailor Dream") and "C'est la vie - Watashi no naka no koi suru bubun" ("C'est la vie - The Part of Me that I Love"), are now available for download on the PGSM movies page. The PGSM index page has also been updated and corrected thanks to tatsu-o! =)

11/14/03: Destined Hearts, the Haruka x Michiru fanlisting, has been totally redesigned. Please join if you're a Haruka x Michiru fan =)

11/08/03: Matthew here, Jupiter's henshin and attack from PGSM available, like before last week's clips (Mars) now re-encoded from better video. PGSM index page has also been updated with some corrections. As for the episodesummaries, they'll have to be put off for a little while longer even though my mid-terms are over (I survived!), now all my essays are due (eep) ;(

10/19/03: Matthew here, two Mars clips from PGSM available, Mercury clips re-encoded from better video (same for Sailormoon a couple of weeks ago). Episode 2 and 3 summaries won't come for a while (mid-terms for me ;_;)

10/17/03: Matthew here, if you hadn't noticed the Live Action/Drama section is now available under "SM Information" on the navagation menu at the left-hand side. Linked from that page are new Sailor Guardian character pages. Episode 2 summary to be posted there within a few days.

10/13/03: There are some more Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon movie clips up, including two more Sailor Moon powers, Mercury's transformation, and Mercury's attack. Also, I have a fanlisting for Sailor Uranus online. =) By the way, thank you for 900,000 hits!

10/12/03: ADV TO REPLACE FAULTY SAILOR MOON R DVD: ADV has finally announced that there is an error on the first episode of Disc 5 of its Sailor Moon R (second season) boxset.

We discovered very recently that materials delivered to ADV for episode #68 of Sailor Moon R, found on ADV's initial release of Sailor Moon: Season Two Uncut, contained a four-second audio/video anomaly. ADV has made appropriate adjustments to those materials. Discs produced subsequently will contain the conformed version of the episode for enjoyment as it was intended originally.

To replace your Sailor Moon disc, please go to the ADV Films Merchandise Return Authorization Page and enter the RMA code SMR5 where prompted, as well as the rest of the required information. Once you have finished entering your information, you will be issued a confirmation, and a DVD return form will be sent to you soon. Simply fill out the return form, and return it and your disc to ADV films in the postage pre-paid package included with the return form, and we will send you your new disc shortly.

This makes returning the disc for Sailor Moon R much easier than the return policy for the first boxset. You only have to return the faulty disc, and you don't have to pay for shipping. - Thank you to SMUncensored.com for the information

10/08/03: ADV SAILOR MOON BOXSET DVD REPLACEMENTS: ADV's release of the uncut Sailor Moon first season boxset has a major video encoding error on the first episode of Disc 5. The episode is badly encoded so that it has a low frame rate. ADV is now offering to replace this faulty DVD. To get a replacement, you must first e-mail ADV at customer@advfilms.com and explain the problem with your DVD. You must also request an exchange form. ADV will then e-mail you the form, which you must print and fill out. You will have to snail mail both the form and your entire first season box set to ADV. Although there is also a major error on Disc 5 of the Sailor Moon R (second season) boxset, ADV has apparently not yet corrected this mistake. - Thanks to SMUncensored.com for this important information

10/08/03: PGSM EPISODE 1 SUMMARY AVAILABLE: Matthew here, here is my episode synopsis (with screenshots!) of the first episode of Pretty Guardian Sailormoon. I don't really need to do a review because I think it's GREAT! ^^; For now this is the only way to access the summary until the index page for the live series is created. Please check it out, even if you saw the episode yourself, you might learn something new! :D

10/06/03: The first episode of Pretty Guardian Sailormoon (the live action TV series) aired on October 4. While we hope on adding a new section to the SSP for the live action series, for now, we have some video clips from the TV show up in the movies section: the TV opening sequence, Sailor Moon's "Moon Prism Power! Make-Up" sequence, and her "Moon Healing Escalation" power. As a bonus, there is also an MP3 of the completely new opening theme song.

09/06/03: SAILOR MOON R DVDS WILL NOT INCLUDE EP 67: ADV announced at Shoujocon that its Region 1 DVDs for Sailor Moon R, the second season of Sailor Moon, will not include episode 67. The episode was not released to them by Toei Animation, and the episode was also cut from the dub. David Williams, a representative of ADV on AnimeonDVD's forums, said, "I honestly don't know the full reason but I've heard that the manga creator didn't like that ep. Beyond that I don't really know anything except I was told we couldn't put it on at the last moment. I was ready to hold back pressing that one disc if we could have worked it out but as I said, we can't." Thanks to Rebo for the information!

09/05/03: I opened a fanlisting for Sailor Moon S, both the anime and the manga. If you're a fan of that season/arc, please join <3

08/29/03: LIVE ACTION SAILOR MOON STORY UPDATE: The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon official website has been newly renovated with new information and new pictures. There's also a story section that has been added. Huge thanks to Millie B. for translating the story section for the live action television series!

"Stealing the energy of everyday people, the evil group, "Dark Kingdom," set on terrestrial conquest, has begun its assault on society. Meanwhile, the 2nd year junior high school ditz, Usagi, unexpectedly encounters the talking cat, Luna, who gives her the power to transform into the beatiful female soldier, Sailormoon. Although it is necessary, being as stupid and rash as she is, the young heroine refuses to fight. Soon, she encounters the other soldiers, Sailormercury, Sailormars, Sailorjupiter, and Sailorvenus, which gives her the motivation to fight. But eventually, it is revealed that Sailormoon is the princess that Luna was in search of, and is being hunted by the enemy. As for Usagi, with the numerous troubles which were brought upon her as a sailor soldier, in addition to those of being a normal junior high school student- studying, diets, love, and even still, everyday singing at the Karaoke Bar- the outspoken song of the young girl's mind is a song to hopefully not be heard. Although having an easy life, Usagi and her cat Luna have reluctantly entered the chain of events that will shake the destiny of the earth. As for the Soldiers' hurdles in their mission, not only the evil organization "Dark Kingdom," a mysterious man, "Tuxedo Mask," who is searching for the answer to the question of his existance. It's a fight with the Dark Kingdom to get the crystal, but the crystal's appearance and powers remain unknown."

07/05/03: SAILOR MOON R DVD RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCED: On July 3, ADV Film issued a press release with information on the Sailor Moon R Japanese-language, English-subtitled DVDs. The DVD boxset is set for a September 16, 2003 release. Thanks to Hollie for the news tip.

ADV ANNOUNCES RELEASE DATE FOR SAILOR MOON: SEASON TWO UNCUT

NEVER BEFORE AVAILABLE IN U.S., ADV FILMS RELEASE INCLUDES PREVIOUSLY ENSORED CONTENT; IN STORES SEPTEMBER 16, 2003

HOUSTON, July 3, 2003—ADV Films today announced a September 16, 2003 release date for Sailor Moon: Season Two Uncut, a huge DVD collection of the uncensored original source for the breakout U.S. children’s hit Sailor Moon. In this English-subtitled, Japanese-language release, ADV Films has returned to the original masters, which include mature content that was excised from the U.S. children’s release, and the original graphic title treatment. The result is a far more sophisticated series, with significantly broadened appeal for mature anime fans. The release (1000 minutes total running time) is on eight DVDs in two cases, which are in turn packaged in a handsome, high-quality (“hard”) foil-stamped custom art box.

The second season of Sailor Moon was directed by noted anime fantasy creator Junichi Sato (creator of the forthcoming ADV co-production Kaleido Star), with character designs by Kazuko Tadano (Wedding Peach).

The Story:
Based on a manga by Naoko Takeuchi, Sailor Moon is the story of a teenage girl who meets a magical cat who gives her super powers. She becomes the leader of a team of brave girls, known as the Sailor Warriors. Sailor Moon has long been justifiably renowned for the strength of its plot, its direct and honest treatment of romance and, in this uncut version, a realistic and unflinching acceptance of death as a possible consequence of a righteous fight.

Sailor Moon: Season Two Uncut (SRP $149.98) is a DVD-only release on eight discs, in Japanese with English subtitles. DVDs are in two four-disc cases, packed in turn in a high-quality (“hard”) foil-stamped custom art box. Includes a printed episode guide and ADV previews.

07/02/03: Thanks to a generous donor, the SSP now has a FTP server to host all the video clips on the site! There are also two Sailor Mercury files on the mirror site. Please read the FTP rules carefully before downloading.

06/19/03: Video (movie) clips are now back online, but on a rotational basis to save bandwidth. Enjoy =) Oh, and the SSP's 7th year anniversary was on June 14, 2003! Yup, 7 years and still kicking... sort of =)

06/15/03: I've opened up a fanlisting for the relationship between Haruka and Michiru, so if you're a fan of theirs, please join =)

06/11/03: SOME MORE DETAILS ON THE NEW SAILOR MOON SERIES: A recent article in Sponichi Annex discusses some more details on the new and upcoming Sailor Moon live action TV series. Thanks to Ikarichu for the translations.

(1st paragraph) "'In the name of the moon, I'll punish you!' From the '90s, breakthrough anime Sailormoon by Naoko Takeuchi will be broadcast as a liveaction drama from October. It has sold over 250 000 000 yen in goods, and is still making new products. Selecting the girl for Sailormoon is becoming an issue."

According to the third paragraph, "the young girls become soldiers through henshin" and "the live action will be used along with CG graphics." The fourth paragraph mentions: "they're casting people now, there's the possibility for a new young idol to be born... the Sailor uniforms are really popular for male fans." As for the story: "normal middle school girls must protect peace from an instrustive organization..." The last parts of the article discuss the popularity of the series, especially on the Internet.

06/07/03: NEW LIVE ACTION SAILOR MOON TV SERIES: According to the Anime News Network, Naoko Takeuchi has announced in the Japanese magazine Young You that a new Sailor Moon TV show will air this fall in Japan. However, the new TV series, which will be produced by Toei, will be live action. The official Sailor Moon website also has an announcement (http://sailormoon.channel.or.jp/gensaku/news.html) about the series by Takeuchi, who states that the Sailor Senshi will once again appear on TV in the fall. More information should be available in the coming months. Thanks to Sailor Vega for the news tip.
